WHEN SENDING FILES
When sending us digital
artwork, there are a number of things that we need from you in
order for us to assist you more efficiently Below is a basic
check of those items along with some things to watch out for:
PDF File
This is the
best recommended format to send to us. (This will avoid
problems associated with some of the native file issues listed
below).
When you send your file as a PDF, make sure to save it
with embedded fonts. This way we do not have to worry
about fonts or graphics or native file issues.
If your file
has photos, please make sure to save as a high resolution PDF.
The Native File
This would be the file that the
project was created in such as Word, Illustrator, or InDesign,
etc. Above are the
native file formats we can accept. If you send us this
format, please see issues related to the native file below:
•
Graphic Files
Unless you know your native
file has embedded your graphics in the
native file
itself (most programs, by default "Link" the graphics and are
not contained in the
native file),
then we will need all graphics associated with your project.
This usually has an extension of .tif, .eps, .jpg, .bmp, etc.
•
Fonts
Just like the graphic
files, fonts are not contained in the native file that you
send to us and must reside on the computer accessing the file.
If we do not have one or more of your fonts, the program will
choose a default font and not the one you intended.
Since we are PC based we cannot work with Mac Fonts -
substitution will be necessary.
Proofs
Advanced
InfoSystems
(AIS) will fax or email you a proof before we proceed
with any order.
With this, we can often catch
missing elements or foresee difficulties or errors long before
it is too late or too costly to repair.
If you have any questions or
concerns about file formats,
please give us a call. We will be
happy to help.
